We understand and endorse that to maintain the intellectual and academic integrity of a UCL degree, it is necessary to consider the legal implications of any change in the university's academic policy with regards to assessments in the COVID-19 crisis. . With the new term beginning and thoughts turning to exams and other assessments, research projects and dissertations, I am writing to let you know that we are revisiting and reviewing our no detriment policy. UCL, there are not "weak" students who can't cope with lockdown and "strong" students who can. UCL have said they will continue to review this to make sure you aren’t assessed on things you haven’t been taught or using resources you haven’t had access to. It is undisputedly clear that in some shape or form, all UCL students have been significantly affected, personally, financially, academically, physically, and/or mentally as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. UCL also have a designated student Coronavirus (Covid-19) information page which includes a whole range of information, advice and updates. UCL has set out the full details of its “no detriment” package, which aims to attenuate the pandemic’s effect on students’ assessment. And it’s never mattered more than during last year.
